Glass is the favoured substrate material for almost all display technologies. It impresses with its high surface quality, high transparency, chemical resistance, temperature resistance and high-quality haptic impression.

Solution for foldable glass displays

Foldable displays are the most sought after new smartphone technology. Current folding displays are made of plastics and are therefore prone to scratches, wrinkles and premature breakdown and malfunction. Conventional smartphone displays do not have these problems because they are made up of at least two layers of glass. Due to the glass, however, these displays cannot be folded easily.

With LIDE it now becomes possible to have relatively thick glass and which is locally made bendable by surface defect free micro structures.
